Merry Christmas 2008

A look at the world’s largest Christmas tree display which rises up the slopes of Monte Ingino outside of Gubbio, in Italy’s Umbria region. This glorious tree is illuminated each year from December 7th thru January 10th, and takes volunteers three months to put it all together. It is composed of about 500 very bright neon lamps, stained different colors, connected by 40,000 feet of wire! It all began in 1980 and is 2426 feet high x 1312 feet wide. The tree shines over the entire valley below and can be seen for many surrounding miles. The Christmas tree is a modern marvel for this ancient city founded in the 3rd century.
